A simpler Jobber alternative for solo techs and small crews
Jobber is a full field-service platform. If what you really need is to quote on site, invoice when the job's done, and get paid, PunchDocs does that from your phone's browser for less.
What PunchDocs does
- Estimates and invoices from your phone's browser, no app to install
- Saved clients, items, and rates, so repeat work takes seconds
- One tap turns an approved estimate into an invoice
- Email it from PunchDocs with a View & pay button, or text a link, and see when your customer opens it
- Record deposits and partial payments; the balance updates itself
- Clean PDFs with your logo, license number, and payment instructions
Pro ($9.99/month) adds unlimited invoices, automatic payment reminders, job photos, your signature and client Approve & sign on estimates, expenses with receipt photos, a mileage log, profit & loss, and a tax-prep export. Your Pro rate is price-locked while you stay subscribed.
Where Jobber fits better
Jobber includes scheduling, dispatch, routing, a client hub, online booking, time tracking, and team plans priced by user (see Jobber's pricing page). PunchDocs has no scheduling, dispatch, or routing. If you run several crews and need those, Jobber is built for it.
Where PunchDocs fits better
- A free plan (1 new invoice every 30 days) with unlimited estimates, not just a trial
- Pro is $9.99/month, price-locked while you stay subscribed
- Material cost and markup estimating, saved labor rates, and supplier quote import on Pro
- One-file import from Invoice Simple that keeps your invoice numbers
- Built by J&J Technical Services, a Central Texas low-voltage contractor, for our own jobs first
Get paid online
- A Pay button on the invoice link, and a QR code on the PDF that opens the same page
- Card, Apple Pay / Google Pay, or bank transfer (ACH), on Stripe's secure checkout
- Money goes to your own Stripe account and pays out to your bank
- The invoice is marked paid automatically, your client gets a receipt, and you get an alert
Fees, plainly: Stripe's processing fee (about 2.9% + 30¢ for cards, less for bank transfers) plus a PunchDocs fee of 1% on Pro or 2.5% on the free plan. Online payments are optional; you can always take checks, cash, or Zelle and record them yourself.
Questions
Does PunchDocs do scheduling or dispatch?
No. PunchDocs is for estimates, invoices, payments, and simple books. If you need scheduling, dispatch, or routing, a field-service platform like Jobber is a better fit.
Can I move my clients over?
Yes. Export a CSV of clients and items, upload it, and match the columns. Nothing is saved until you confirm.
Is PunchDocs really free?
Yes. The free plan includes 1 new invoice every 30 days and unlimited estimates, clients, and items, with no credit card. Pro is $9.99/month for unlimited invoices and the extras, and you can cancel any time yourself.
Is PunchDocs the same as Patchdocs?
No. PunchDocs (punchdocs.com) is an estimate and invoice app for contractors and field techs, built by J&J Technical Services in Texas. Patchdocs is an unrelated network-documentation product from a different company. The two aren't affiliated.
